Orin Howard, President

Orin Howard graduated from Howard University in December 1995. He received his Bachelor's in Science in Family Counseling and Planning (Family Studies) at the University of Maryland at College Park in 1993. He is a current student at the University of Maryland University College, where he expects to graduate with a Master's of Business Administration in December 2014. 

Orin has worked in social work in several capacities. He maintains a LCSW-C in Maryland and LICSW in the District of Columbia. He is the current Director of Operation Safe Kids at the Baltimore City Health Department. He is also an Adjunct instructor at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, where he teaches Clinical Practice with African American families, Human Behavior, and Social Work Practice. 

Orin is originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He has an 11 year old son Khalid Howard. In his spare time, he serves as the President of the Greenbelt Boys and Girls Club and the Guide Right Co-Chair for the Washington D.C. Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated.

Tiffany Bostic,

1st Vice President - Membership

Tiffany Bostic is a 2014 graduate of the Howard University School of Social Work. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Mass Media Arts/Public Relations from Clark Atlanta University in 2006.


While at Howard, Tiffany enriched her studies as a 2012 Alternative Spring Break: Detroit participant, and as the 2012 MSW Representative to the Board of Directors for the DC Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). She was named NASW-DC's 2013 Student of the Year, and was a member of the 2013 cohort of the International Service Learning Project in South Africa. Additionally, Tiffany co-chaired the 2013 Young Professional and Emerging Leaders committee of NASW-DC and was the 2013-2014 HUSSW Student Council's Alumni Liaison. 


Currently, Tiffany works as a school social worker at Achievement Prep - Mississippi Avenue Campus in Southeast, D.C.

Pernell Hicks is a native of New Bern, North Carolina.  He attended North Carolina A&T State University graduating with a Bachelor of Social Work degree in 2005.  He relocated to the D.C. area in August of 2008 to pursue graduate studies at Howard University.  Pernell graduated from the Howard University School of Social Work in May of 2010 with a Master of Social Work degree. While at Howard he served on the School of Social Work's Student Council Association and the was the Graduate Liaison for the Citizen's Review Panel.  

 

Pernell has a wealth of experience working with the homeless population, at-risk youth, and adolescent males.  He is an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc and is currently employed with District of Columbia Public Schools in the Office of Specialized Instruction, Early Childhood Division.  

Pernell Hicks,

2nd Vice President - Programming

From Richmond, Virginia, Jermaun Moore graduated from Howard University in 2003 with a Bachelor's degree in Administration of Justice, followed by her MSW in 2006. She worked in foster care at Foundations for Home and Community for seven years. Currently, she is a care manager at Health Service for Children with Special Needs. In addition to being a Girl Scout Leader, Jermaun plays the trombone in the Instrumental Ensemble at Mount Zion Baptist Church. Jermaun served as the Recording Secretary for the 2013-2014 year, and is happy to serve in this position, and as the Assistant Treasurer position.
